VoiceOver Support

GrowTale is fully compatible with VoiceOver, Apple's screen reader technology.

What's Included:

  • Clear, descriptive labels for all buttons and controls
  • Proper heading structure for easy navigation
  • Meaningful hints for interactive elements
  • Selected states announced for child profiles, story scenarios, and art styles
  • Form field labels with error announcements

How to Use:

  1. Enable VoiceOver: Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver
  2. Navigate the app using swipe gestures
  3. Double-tap to activate buttons and select options
  4. All story creation options and reader controls are fully accessible

Text-to-Speech Story Reading

Every story can be read aloud with natural-sounding narration.

Features:

  • Adjustable speech rate for comfortable listening
  • Optimized voice settings for children
  • Page-by-page narration in the story reader
  • Automatic conflict resolution with VoiceOver

Smart Integration:

  • When VoiceOver is active, uses VoiceOver announcements
  • When VoiceOver is off, uses iOS Text-to-Speech engine
  • Never interrupts or overlaps with VoiceOver

Reading Customization

Font Size Options:

  • Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large

Background Options:

  • Sepia (cream/brown tones)

Dyslexia-Friendly Font:

  • Toggle for enhanced readability

Dynamic Type Support

GrowTale respects iOS system font size preferences.

  • All text scales automatically with system settings
  • Buttons and controls remain tappable at larger sizes
  • Layouts adapt to prevent text truncation
  • Reader font multiplier works on top of system size

Reduced Motion

Respects user preference for reduced motion and animations.

  • Selection animations in story creation
